Complete Guide For MDCAT Exam

MDCAT Stand for Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is a test conducted each year for admission in MBBS and BDS degrees. Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is conducted by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. MDCAT is a pre-requisite test. After a test for admission in all medical and dental colleges and University both public and private sector in Pakistan. Each year some 85,000 students attempt the MDCAT test while there are 3400 open merit seats in public sector medical colleges and University some 216 open merit seats and 76 seats for overseas Pakistanis in public sector dental colleges of Punjab. MDCAT tests have consisted of multiple-choice questions (MCQ). For each MCQ 1 mark, there is no negative marking for the wrong answer. The total score of MDCAT score is 200.

MDCAT Schedule

  • The candidates can register online for MDCAT  each year from 19 August to 29 August.
  • MDCAT Test Date each year from 23 September to 30 September.
  • For submission of application form and fee for MDCAT the available at the counters of the Bank of Punjab (BOP) branches all over Pakistan 09:00 am to 05:00 pm.

Eligibility Criteria for MDCAT

  • Intermediate Science (HSSC/F.Sc-Pre-Medical Group) or Equivalent Examination with minimum 70% marks
  • Domicile Certificate
  • A copy of Computerized national identity card or B Form
  • Matriculation degree or any other equivalent program
  • Marks sheet or result card of F.Sc
  • A colored photograph of the applicant is also required

ECAT Test Pattern

Four options like an (A) (B) (C) (D) you can select one single best answer.

  • MDCAT is taken as 200 multiple choice questions (MCQ).

  • Physics (40 MCQs)
  • English (20 MCQs)
  • Time Allowed:  150 Minutes (2.5 Hours)

Marking Criteria

  • Total Marks: 200
  • 1 Correct Answer: 1 Marks
  • Wrong Answer: 0 Mark
  • Negative Marking: None
  • Not Attempted: 0 Mark

Merit Formula

  • F.Sc: 50%
  • MDCAT: 50%

The candidates must bring the following with them on the test day.

  • The candidates must reach their respective centers at least one hour before the commencement of the test time (09:00 am)
  • Original CNIC/Smart Card for issued by NADRA OR Original Passport.
  • Print out of Admit Card issued by the University.
  • A clean Clipboard.
  • Blue ballpoint pens (not pointers, markers, pencils, gel pens, etc.)
